Who We Serve

Government Agencies

Government work demands accountability, and your records are the foundation of that trust. We help agencies design compliant records management programs that stand up to audits, streamline FOIA responses, and reduce storage costs by implementing defensible retention schedules.

Whether you're dealing with legacy paper systems, migrating to electronic records, or need training for staff across departments, we create solutions that meet regulatory requirements while making daily operations smoother. From appraisal through disposition, your records lifecycle becomes clear, defensible, and manageable.

Nonprofits & Cultural Institutions

You're already doing more with less. Your records system shouldn't add to that burden.

We specialize in designing affordable, practical solutions that work with new systems or the tools you already have. Whether you need help with preservation, security, workflows, digital forensics, access, migration, etc., we'll work within your budget and capacity.

We also provide training so your team can maintain the systems we build together, ensuring the work continues long after the project ends. Our approach is collaborative: we listen to your challenges, respect your existing workflows, and design around your team's actual needs, not a one-size-fits-all template.

Private Individuals & Families

Your family's history matters, and preserving it shouldn't be intimidating.

Whether you've inherited boxes of photographs and documents, want to organize important papers, or hope to create a lasting archive for future generations, we offer flexible, scaled services to meet you where you are. That might mean hands-on processing and digitization, or it might mean gathering relevant resources so you can get started on your own.

We understand that professional archival services can feel like a luxury, but protecting your irreplaceable materials doesn't have to break the bank. Let's talk about what's possible.

Laura Froelke

I came to archives from mechanical engineering, where I spent years designing complex building systems and managing multi-stakeholder projects. That background shapes how I approach records work: systematically, collaboratively, and with attention to how all the pieces fit together.

Since earning my Master’s from San José State University I've worked with organizations ranging from state archives to cultural institutions to community nonprofits. I love working with diverse collections and the unique challenges each project brings.

I also bring graphic design training to my work, ensuring that the materials I create (finding aids, retention schedules, training documents) are intuitive and polished. Good design isn't just aesthetic; it makes systems easier to understand and use.

Key Archives serves clients nationally with flexible on-site and remote support. If you're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with practical problem-solving, let's talk about your project.
